How to add a DreamHost mailbox to multiboxi
Mailboxes on domains hosted at DreamHost connect over IMAP and SMTP with the mailbox password. DreamHost does not offer separate app passwords.
What you need
- The mailbox address and password. You can change the password in the DreamHost panel on the email management page.
Step by step
- In multiboxi choose “Add a mailbox”, then the DreamHost tile. Enter your email address and password.
- The wizard tells you that DreamHost is based in the USA and asks for your consent to connect to this mailbox. This is how we handle data transfers outside the European Economic Area.
- The wizard checks the connection and shows the mailbox folders. Give the mailbox a name and a colour.

Good to know
- Several failed sign-ins in a row can briefly block access on the DreamHost side. Enter the password carefully.
If something does not work
- Wrong password message: check that you are entering the app password (without spaces), not your main password, and that IMAP access is turned on.
- You can enter a new password later in the mailbox settings in multiboxi, without removing the mailbox.
