How to add another mailbox to multiboxi
You can add any mailbox that allows IMAP and SMTP access with a password: on your own domain, at o2, with a hosting company and with many other providers.
What you need
- The IMAP and SMTP server addresses, ports and encryption type. You will find them in your provider’s help (usually under “mail program setup”) or in your hosting panel.
- The mailbox password, or an app password if the provider offers one.
Step by step
- In multiboxi choose “Add a mailbox”, then “Other server”.
- Enter the email address, username (usually the full address) and password.
- Enter the IMAP and SMTP server and port. Most often: IMAP 993 with SSL/TLS, SMTP 465 with SSL/TLS or 587 with STARTTLS.
- Choose the provider’s country. If it is outside the European Economic Area, the wizard asks for your consent.
- The wizard checks the connection and shows the mailbox folders. Give the mailbox a name and a colour.
Good to know
- Outlook.com, Hotmail and Microsoft 365 require Microsoft account authorisation (OAuth). We will add them later.
- multiboxi connects only over encrypted connections and does not accept internal network addresses.
If something does not work
- Wrong password message: check that you are entering the app password (without spaces), not your main password, and that IMAP access is turned on.
- You can enter a new password later in the mailbox settings in multiboxi, without removing the mailbox.
